Name Combiner and Baby Name Combiner

Techilam blends two names into new name ideas and ranks each one by how easy it is to say. Parents can also find baby names with meanings. Free, fast, and private.

Pick a tool

Each tool has its own page, with examples, tips, and answers to common questions.

How a name combiner works

A name combiner cuts each name at natural breaks, usually where a vowel meets a consonant. It then joins the pieces in every sensible order. Ali and Sara can become Alisa, Alara, or Sarali.

The hard part is choosing. A blend should be easy to say, easy to spell, and still sound like both names. That is why Techilam gives each result a flow score and colors every letter by its source.

One example, letter by letter

+

Keep all of Ali. Keep the first two letters of Sara.

The result is Alisa. Three letters come from the first name and two from the second, so both names are easy to spot.

From two names to a short list

  1. Enter two namesUse first names. Add a gender and style if the tool offers them.
  2. BlendThe tool tries many cut points and joins the pieces.
  3. RankEach blend gets a flow score. Hard-to-say blends sink.
  4. Save and testSave favorites, then say each one with your last name.
The tools run in your browser. Your names are not sent to a server.

Four blending styles in one tool

Different name pairs need different methods. Techilam tries all four and labels each result.

Four ways to blend two names

Short mashupThe first part of each name.

Shared-letter overlapNames join where letters already match.

Coral letters come from the first name, teal letters from the second, and dark letters are shared. Faded letters are left out. The same color code is used in every result on Techilam.

A flow score you can read

Every blend is scored by a short list of public rules, not a black box. A high score means the name is easy to say.

How the flow score works

Every blend starts at 40 points, then gains or loses points for how easy it is to say. The final score is kept between 5 and 99.

Adds points

  • +14Both names show up (40%+ of letters from each)
  • +10Length of 5 to 8 letters
  • +10Vowels make up 33-55% of letters
  • +8Two or three syllables
  • +8Names overlap on 2+ letters
  • +6Ends in a vowel (a, e, i, o, y)
  • +6Vowel and consonant meet at the join

Takes points away

  • -20Same letter three times in a row
  • -12Three consonants in a row
  • -10Four or more vowels in a row
  • -8Over 10 letters, or too few or too many vowels
  • -6Two consonants collide at the join
These are the exact rules the Techilam tools use. A score tells you how easy a name is to say. It cannot tell you whether the name is right for your family.

Name combiner questions

What is a name combiner?

A name combiner blends two names into one new name by joining parts of each. Techilam also ranks every result by how easy it is to say.

How do I combine two names?

Open the name combiner, type both names, and press Combine names. You will see blends with color-coded letters showing which name each letter came from.

Is the name combiner free?

Yes. All Techilam tools are free, with no sign-up and no usage limit.

Are my names stored or shared?

No. Blending happens in your browser, and names are not sent to a server. Names you save stay on your own device.

Can I use it to find baby names?

Yes. The baby name combiner blends the parents' names, and the baby name generator adds gender, style, and curated names with meanings.

What is the flow score?

The flow score runs from 5 to 99. It rewards balanced vowels and consonants, a good length, a gentle ending, and fair use of both names. It does not judge meaning or taste.
